Willow Boy's sire, the late, *Chiltern Colm (photo below) was bred by one of the most knowledgable and influential Connemara Pony breeders in the World, Ms. Pat Lyne of the United Kingdom. She had an inkling about a certain young stallion, Corrib (Colm's sire) and knew that if she could just pair him with the right mare, in this case her very own, Chiltern Gazelle (Island Duke x Artic Moon), the offspring would be amazing. She was right! *Chiltern Colm has produced fine progeny who not only excel in performance areas, but are breed "type" representatives as well. Ms. Lyne has written many authoritative books on the breed including, Out of the Mist and Shrouded in Mist. (click here to shop for Pat Lyne books via the ACPS)! Why are we breeding a Thunderbolt grandson? What IS a "native pony"? Pat Lyne suggests, "Thunderbolt retained the physique of the original Connemara work pony. . this, together with his alert intelligence enabled him to live the life of a native pony; his greatest gifts were his hardiness and the kindest of kind natures, which, he passed on, without exception, to all of his progeny." Our "Willow Boy's" dam, also imported from the UK, *Sillbridge Miranda has as her sire this all-time greats of Connemara pedigrees, the bold and the beautiful, Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt maintains the 5th line of Irish stallion blood hailing from one of the original stallions of the early CPBS, Mountain Lad. |
